Investigation of the Effect of the Voltage Drop and Cable Length on the Success of Starting the Line-Start Permanent Magnet Motor in the Drive of a Centrifugal Pump Unit

The use of Line-Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (LSPMSM) improves the efficiency conventional direct-on-line electric motor-driven fluid machinery such as pumps and fans. Such motors have increased compared to induction do not an excitation winding classical synchronous with winding. However, LSPMSMs difficulty in starting mechanisms a high moment inertia. This problem can be exacerbated by reduced supply network voltage drop on cable. article investigates transients during startup industrial centrifugal pump line-start permanent magnet motor. simulation results showed that when motor terminals is 10%, synchronization delayed. cable also leads reduction at steady state, but time delay more significant than corresponding voltage. considered example shows has no problems pumping unit, even conclusions this paper support wider energy-efficient used selecting drive pump.
